Welcome to Meet the Cosplayer, where I introduce you to some of the fantastic, creative talent within the Rainbow Six: Siege community. This series is meant to showcase the amazing cosplayers no matter their skill level or experience.
I sat down and spoke with cosplayer SUA about their history with cosplay, what got them into it, the challenges they faced and other things.
SUA lives in Korea and studies programming.
What got you interested in cosplay?
“I have wanted many operators helmets from GSG-9, GIGN and etc. and consequently I got a chance to get replica of GIGN’s plate carrier and thanks to my friends, who have been interested in cosplay, helped me a lot.”
How long have you been cosplaying for?
“About half a year.”
What has been the most difficult part about cosplaying for you?
“I’m just an amateur cosplayer, but I found it’s hard to get similar props, costumes and equipment that I want. Furthermore, I’m not good at making something and there’s few people who can make it for me.”
When cosplaying, what have been three most important things for you to have with you?
“Just being similar to the original character.”
When you started cosplaying, what was an obstacle or challenge that you encountered?
“Studying something military… I had not been interested in it, and it’s difficult for me to find specific name of parts of gun, helmet, and suit.”
What advice would you give to people wanting to start cosplay for the first time?
“Enjoy! Contemplate, research, build it!”
